Connect and Belong: An evening with Chance for Childhood

Come together with Chance for Childhood for a unique and joyful evening at Kettner’s Champagne Bar in London.

Between 2022 and 2025, Chance for Childhood reached 186,226 children with our transformational education and disability inclusion projects in five Sub Saharan African countries.

This October, thanks to the generosity of a kind supporter, we have the opportunity to celebrate this landmark at a fantastic London venue. Set within a historic Georgian townhouse, Kettner’s is one of London’s oldest restaurants, dating back to 1867, and was the first to serve French food in the capital. With its circular bar and elegant lounge seating, this is the perfect space to raise a glass alongside our Chair of Trustees Nicoletta Gopsill-Piccolrovazzi, and celebrate an exciting new milestone in our journey to shift power to the communities of our work – the appointment of Ven Nyamondo as our first ever African CEO in more than 30 years of supporting children!

For one evening only, this historic venue will reverberate to the drumbeat of a truly special entertainer – Senegalese griot (storyteller) and percussionist Dembis Thioung!

Dembis invites supporters of Chance for Childhood on a journey to ancient West Africa to learn and embody traditional rhythms, activate collective remembrance, and manifest ancestral desires for peace, celebrating togetherness and honouring unity in diversity. Dembis’s act transmits values of nonviolent fighting, peace, tolerance, respect, hard work, service to others and humanity. His energetic and joyful drumming is infectious and will make this a memorable evening.

Surrounded by Soho’s rich character and charm, and to the irresistible beat of Dembis’s music, we hope you’ll join us to celebrate the work being done to ensure childhoods across Africa are filled with safety, belonging and play.
