20 runners, 26.2 miles and over £45,000 raised
This April, 20 incredible individuals took on one of the world’s greatest challenges: the London Marathon. Some ran in unforgettable costumes, while others proudly wore Chance for Childhood T-shirts. Every runner crossed the finish line knowing they had helped make a difference for children across Africa.
Over the past several months, our runners raised more than £45,000 to help ensure children can enjoy a childhood filled with safety, belonging and play. Reaching that total took months of hard work, with runners organising bake sales, pub quizzes and all sorts of creative fundraising events. Many even surpassed their fundraising targets before race day arrived!
On marathon day, the atmosphere was electric. Crowds lined the streets, family and friends cheered from every corner, and our team encouraged runners as they powered through the second half of the course. After, there were celebrations, well-earned drinks and, of course, plenty of medal photos.

One of our incredible runners, Ben, shares what it was like to take on the marathon:
A huge thank you to every runner, donor, friend and family member who helped make this year’s Marathon such a success. Whether you ran the 26.2 miles, made a donation, cheered from the sidelines or supported behind the scenes, you played a part in raising an incredible £45,000 for children across Africa. We’re so grateful for everything you did to make it possible!
