Chance for Childhood has unveiled its new 2030 strategy, setting out a bold vision to reach 200,000 people in vulnerable situations across Africa through community-driven action in education, health and economic resilience.
Why urgent change is needed
Across Africa, millions of children face systemic barriers to learning, health, and opportunity.
- 40% of children under five are stunted
- 60% of youth are unemployed
- 16.2 million children are internally displaced by conflict and violence
The climate crisis is amplifying these pressures, with droughts, floods and crop failures pushing families deeper into poverty. Meanwhile, global aid is shrinking, with Official Development Assistance falling by 7.1% in 2024 and the UK’s aid budget being reduced from 0.7% to 0.5% for the foreseeable future.
Our vision for 2030
By 2030, Chance for Childhood aims to open pathways to education, health, and economic opportunity for 200,000 people living in East and West Africa, ensuring lasting change for generations.
We work with local communities to deliver training that builds knowledge and confidence. This creates resilience for families to not only survive, but thrive. Our vision is a future where communities are skilled, resourced, and can confidently support every child without needing us.
“This 2030 strategy sets out our bold vision and the concrete steps we will take to reach it. I invite you to read it with the same urgency, hope, and determination with which it will be delivered.”
– Ven Nyamondo, CEO
