About the Project

This project focused on training early childhood education (ECE) teachers to use inclusive practices, encourage positive behaviour, and make learning more engaging through play-based methods. The goal is to support the development of 500 children, including children with disabilities, at 10 government-run early childhood centres in Greater Accra, Ghana. By enhancing teacher skills and involving parents, the project ensures children have the best chance to learn and thrive.

Goals and Objectives

  • Improve learning and participation for 500 children, including children with disabilities, in 10 government ECE centres.
  • Train 50 teachers in methods that support inclusive education, encourage positive behaviour, and use play as a tool for learning.
  • Educate 200 parents and caregivers about inclusive education, disabilities, and early childhood development.

Our impact

We have improved learning outcomes for 500 kindergarten children (51% of whom are girls) by screening them for early signs of disabilities and special educational needs.

We have built the capacity of 50 teachers in inclusive education, play-based teaching methods, and positive behaviour management.

We have sensitised 200 parents and caregivers on inclusive education, disabilities, and early childhood development (ECE).
